Rudolf Hofmann (theologian, 1825)

Rudolf Hugo Hofmann (born January 3, 1825 in Kreischa , † February 19, 1917 in Leipzig ) was a German Protestant theologian .

Life

The son of a pastor attended the prince school Sankt Afra zu Meißen and matriculated at the University of Leipzig for theology after graduating from high school . Here he joined the student union Landsmannschaft Afrania . 1847 Dr. phil. et theol. doctorate , he became in 1851 licentiate and 1860 Doctor of Theology honoris causa .

After a position as a pastor in Störmthal and teaching at Sankt Afra, Hofmann accepted a call to the University of Leipzig as a professor of homiletics and liturgy . In 1910 he retired .

Rudolf Hofmann was a member of the 1st Chamber of the Saxon State Parliament from 1905 to 1910 , canon of the Meissen Monastery and co-founder of the Meissen Conference .
