Rudolf Keller (biochemist)

Rudolf Keller later also spelled Rudolph Keller (born April 26, 1875 in Schlackenwerth , Austria-Hungary , † May 9, 1964 in New York City , New York ) was an American biochemist , publicist and publisher of Austrian - Czechoslovak origin.

Life

Rudolf Keller, who belongs to the Jewish religious community , turned to studying natural sciences at the German University in Prague after completing his Matura , which he achieved with the academic degree of Dr. phil. completed. In the following years , Keller, who worked as an exporter and agent, and later as a journalist , rose to become a co-owner and editor of several newspapers , including the Prager Tagblatt and the Aussiger Tagblatt , through his marriage to the daughter of the publisher Heinrich Mercy .

Rudolf Keller also devoted himself to biochemistry as a private scholar and was one of the founders and collaborators of the biological-physical working group in Prague. From 1925 to 1928 he was in charge of a science laboratory in Prague.

Rudolf Keller emigrated to the USA via Sweden and Great Britain in 1939 . In 1944 he was appointed director of the Robinson Foundation, in 1947 he moved to the Madison Foundation for Biochemical Research in New York in the same capacity. The cellar, which received an honorary doctorate from the University of Basel , published, among other things, Electricity in the Cell , published in 1918 by Braumüller Verlag.
