Rudolf Radke
Rudolf Karl Eduard Radke (born April 30, 1925 in Berlin ; † September 11, 2015 in Königstein im Taunus ) was a German journalist and publicist . He belonged to the founding generation of ZDF .
Life
Radke attended high school in Berlin-Adlershof and volunteered for military service in the Navy in 1942 . He served as a radio operator on minesweepers in Denmark until the surrender in May 1945 and was taken prisoner by the British .
In 1947/48 he completed a journalistic traineeship at the German News Agency (DENA) in Bremen and from 1952 studied law as well as contemporary and modern history at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and at the Free University of Berlin . He later worked for the United Press International news agency and was the Bonn correspondent for the broadcaster Free Berlin .
From 1963 Radke worked for ZDF in various functions for 27 years. He played a key role in setting up the main daily affairs department and the news program today until 1971 as well as the magazine auslandsjournal from 1973 to 1983, which he also moderated. He later worked as deputy editor-in-chief and program coordinator for the ZDF editor-in-chief. On his 65th birthday, he retired due to age.
In several books and lectures he then turned to his professional life topic, the Middle East conflict . From 1990 to 1992 Rudolf Radke hosted the ZDF talk show live from the Alte Oper in Frankfurt am Main together with Elke Heidenreich . After working as a lecturer, Rudolf Radke received an honorary professorship for television journalism at the Institute for Communication Science at the Technical University of Dresden in 1996 , where he worked until 2005.
