Rudi Wach
Rudi Wach (born November 22, 1934 in Hall in Tirol ) is an Austrian painter and sculptor .
life and work
Rudolf Wach, known as Rudi Wach, grew up in Thaur in Tyrol and attended the Innsbruck Federal Trade School. There his first teacher was Hans Pontiller . This was followed by studies at the Brera Art Academy in Milan with Marino Marini . He took decisive impulses from Hans Pontiller and his friends Alberto Giacometti and Mario Negri . He has lived and worked in Milan , Innsbruck and Pietrasanta since 1955 , known for its marble quarries.
Christological or human-animal themes play a major role in his work . Since the 1970s he has been developing his graphic oeuvre parallel to sculpture.
A crucifix that was intended for the Innsbrucker Innbrücke could not be erected in 1986 due to protests from the Catholic side, as Wach had depicted Christ without a loincloth. It was only set up in September 2007 by decision of the Mayor of Innsbruck, Hilde Zach .
