Rudolf Winter-Ebmer

Rudolf Winter-Ebmer (born August 25, 1961 in Steyr , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian economist and professor of economics (Labor Economics) at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz . He heads the department for labor economics at the Institute for Economics and is the head of the institute.

Life

Rudolf Winter-Ebmer studied economics at the JKU from 1981 to 1985 , where he received his doctorate in 1991. Until his habilitation in 1996, he worked as a research and university assistant. In addition to his teaching as an associate professor at the JKU, he has held several visiting professorships in Germany and abroad - at the University of California , Berkeley (1995–1996), the University of Graz (1998), the University of Zurich (including 1999), the Université de Paris II (2000) and the University of Innsbruck (2001). In 2003 he was “Bank Austria Visiting Professor” at the University of Vienna , and began working as a research professor at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) in Vienna. Since 2005 he has been a full university professor for Labor Economics at the JKU Institute for Economics. He turned down appointments to the University of Graz and the National University of Ireland (Maynooth). He is a member of the German Academy of Sciences ( Leopoldina ). In 2011 he was President of the European Society for Population Economics (ESPE). He is the coordinator of the research network “Labor Market and Welfare State”, which is financed for 6 years by the Research Promotion Fund and coordinates labor economists from Austria, Germany and Switzerland, as well as the Austrian coordinator of SHARE (Survey on Health, Aging and Retirement in Europe). Since 2015 he has been heading the Christian-Doppler Laboratory "Aging, Health and the Labor Market".
