Rudolf del Zopp (born March 3, 1861 in Vienna , † January 31, 1927 in Berlin ) was an Austrian opera singer ( tenor ), actor , film director and screenwriter .

Life

The son of a chimney sweep appeared for the first time in 1877 at the Sulkowsky Theater in Vienna. Early engagements took him to Teplitz , Karlsbad , Breslau and Bern, among others . He made his debut as a singer in 1886. From 1886 to 1888 he belonged to the Theater Linz , from 1888 to 1889 to the Friedrich Wilhelmstädtisches Theater in Berlin , from 1888 to 1892 to the Theater an der Wien and from 1892 to 1893 to the Theater Klagenfurt .

From 1893 to 1894 he played at the Theater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich , 1894 to 1895 at the Stadttheater Innsbruck , 1895 to 1896 at the Stadttheater Salzburg , 1896 to 1897 at the Theater Preßburg and from 1897 to 1899 at the Theater von Hermannstadt . At that time, Del Zopp was primarily an operetta performer.

He then made guest appearances from Vienna in Prague , Karlsbad and Linz , and later in Berlin. On January 10, 1891, he sang the role of Stanislaus at the Theater an der Wien in the world premiere of the operetta The Bird Dealer . On July 29, 1899 he took part in the world premiere of the operetta Die Landstreicher at the Vienna Summer Theater .

Then he turned to the new kind of cinematography and found a wide field of work here as an actor as well as a director and screenwriter. Since the beginning of the 20s he has not received any directing orders and has limited himself to his acting activities. His first marriage was to the soprano Josefine Wiesner , and his second marriage to the actress, singer and screenwriter Luise del Zopp .
