Name origin
The street was named after Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790), who is considered to be one of the founding fathers of the USA and who spent nine years of his life (from 1777 to 1786) here in Passy on Rue Raynouard , then still Rue Basse .
history
The street was laid out as “Rue Neuve-des-Mines” on the site of the former Couvent des Minimes de Nigeon monastery . In 1791 it was given the name "Rue Franklin".
When Avenue Paul Doumer opened in 1933 , access from Rue Franklin to Rue des Réservoirs (now Rue du Commandant-Schloesing ) was blocked.
It was given its current name on December 21, 1988.
