Ruska Mokra ( Ukrainian Руська Мокра ; Russian Русская Мокрая Russkaja Mokraja , Slovak Ruská Mokrá , Hungarian Oroszmokra , German Russian Mokra ) is a village in the east of the Ukrainian Transcarpathian Oblast (2001) with about 1300 inhabitants.
The Ruthenian name "Mokra" of the village, founded in 1760, means something like wet area . The villagers live mainly from the forest: The rare jobs in the village are largely provided by the local forest administration and, during the summer, women and children also collect berries and mushrooms for sale.
The shade of the surrounding mountains usually shields the village from direct sunlight, so that there is snow in the village on average 162 days a year.
geography
The locality is in the Waldkarpaten to 557 m height in the valley of Mokrjanka ( Мокрянка ), a 32 kilometer source flow of Teresva . From the village of Ust-Tschorna, 5 km downstream , a junction of the Tereswa Valley forest railway leads to Ruska Mokra.
