Russell Joseph McVinney (born November 25, 1898 in Warren , Rhode Island , USA , † August 10, 1971 ) was Bishop of Providence .

Life

Russell Joseph McVinney received on 13 July 1924, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On May 29, 1948, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Bishop of Providence. The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Amleto Giovanni Cicognani , ordained him episcopal on July 14 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Hartford , Henry Joseph O'Brien , and the Coadjutor Bishop of Fall River , James Louis Connolly .
