Russell Smith (producer)
Russell Smith (born April 21, 1954 in Springfield , Illinois ) is an American film producer .
Life
Smith has been a producer since the late 1980s. His first film was the drama The Last Outlaw by Gary Sinise . Some of the better-known films Smith has worked on include B. The Man in the Iron Mask from 1998 with Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role. In the following years he worked particularly frequently with his producer colleagues John Malkovich and Lianne Halfon as part of the production company Mr. Mudd . The joint projects include The Obrist and the Dancer , Ghost World and Art School Confidential . The 2007 comedy Juno was also made in collaboration with Malkovich and Halfon. For the film, Smith and Halfon and Mason Novick received a nomination for Best Picture at the 2008 Academy Awards . They also won awards at the Independent Spirit Awards and the Christopher Awards, and were nominated for Best Picture at the PGA Awards .
