Thilo Leugers (born January 9, 1991 in Lingen (Ems) ) is a German football player . The defender has been under contract with SV Meppen since 2016 .

Career

Both parents of Thilo Leugers and his big sister Svenja are soccer youth coaches at SV Heidekraut Andervenne ; His older sister Jana is also a footballer and played for Heike Rheine and Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga . At the age of eleven, Thilo Leugers moved to FC Twente Enschede . Here he went through the youth training of the football academy FC Twente / Heracles Almelo before signing his first contract with the youth team of the Enscheder Jong FC Twente in 2009 .

In the 2010/11 season , coach Michel Preud'homme brought him from the junior team to the first team. The left full-back made his debut in the Eredivisie on October 30, 2010 in a 1-0 away win in Eindhoven at PSV , when he was replaced after 63 minutes by another 19-year-old, Austrian Michael Schimpelsberger . Just three days later, Leugers made his first appearance in the Champions League . In the away game at Werder Bremen he was one of the decisive players in the 2-0 win for the Dutch and was allowed to play for the entire 90 minutes. Three weeks later he was also used in the match at Inter Milan . In the Eredivisie he was used eight times in the 2010/11 season ; four times in the 2011/12 season . For the 2012/13 season , Leugers was loaned out to league rivals NAC Breda for a year in order to gain more match practice. After his return he was injured at the beginning of the season in a friendly against Preußen Münster .

After he left the club in 2014 and a few months remained without a club he joined in December 2014 Atlético Baleares in the third-rate Spanish Segunda División B to. For the 2016/17 season he moved to SV Meppen with whom he was promoted to the third division at the end of the season . In the summer of 2019, the midfielder was appointed the new team captain by head coach Christian Neidhart .
