Career

Youth and TSG Hoffenheim II

Hemlein played for FV Nussloch in his youth until 2003 . Then he was active for FC Zuzenhausen . In 2005 Hemlein moved to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . He took part in the 2009 DFB country cup . In the Regionalliga Süd , Hemlein scored nine goals in 32 games for TSG Hoffenheim's second team in the 2010/11 season .

VfB Stuttgart II

For the 2011/12 season he moved to the second team at VfB Stuttgart . On July 23, 2011, Hemlein made his professional debut in the 3rd professional league against Arminia Bielefeld on the first match day of the 2011/12 season and scored the equalizer in VfB II's 2-1 away win.

VfB Stuttgart

Hemlein made his Bundesliga debut on October 22, 2011 under coach Bruno Labbadia on matchday 10 of the 2011/12 Bundesliga season against 1. FC Nürnberg . Four days later, he scored his first competitive goal for the Swabian first team in the second round of the DFB Cup against FSV Frankfurt .

NEC Nijmegen

On May 15, 2013, Hemlein signed a contract dated until June 2016 with the Dutch first division club NEC Nijmegen , which came into force for the 2013/14 season. For Nijmegen he played 29 games and scored four goals. The club ended the season on a relegation place . Both games against Sparta Rotterdam were lost, after relegation to the second division he left the Netherlands after only one year.

Arminia Bielefeld

For the 2014/15 season , Hemlein moved to Arminia Bielefeld . On the first match day of the new season, Hemlein gave his club a win by scoring a goal in the last minute of the game against the reserves of 1. FSV Mainz 05 . In April 2015, his goal from 65 meters away in the game against Rot-Weiß Erfurt was named Goal of the Month. At the end of the season he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with Arminia.

1. FC Kaiserslautern

On May 8, 2018, Hemlein signed a contract with 1. FC Kaiserslautern, valid from the 2018/19 season . In the summer of 2019 he was appointed as team captain by head coach Sascha Hildmann to succeed Florian Dick , who had ended his active career. After the 14th matchday of the 2019/20 season , Hemlein was deleted from the professional squad until further notice under Hildmann's successor Boris Schommers, together with Janek Sternberg and Antonio Jonjić . Kaiserslautern was in a relegation zone at this point and had been in the lower third of the table since the 4th matchday.
