Rutger Gunnarsson

Rutger Gunnarsson (born February 12, 1946 in Linköping ; † death announced on May 8, 2015 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish musician ( bassist ), arranger and music producer .

Life

Gunnarsson began his musical career in the 1960s with Björn Ulvaeus with the Hootenanny Singers . He received his greatest attention through his participation in all eight studio albums of the band ABBA from 1974 to 1982. While the four singers Björn, Benny , Agnetha and Anni-Frid always achieved a strong public perception, the musicians lagged behind the singers like Gunnarsson or the drummer Ola Brunkert relatively unknown. Gunnarsson can be heard in all the great ABBA hits from Waterloo , Dancing Queen to The Winner Takes It All and is one of the most listened bassists in music history with an estimated 370 million ABBA records sold. Between 1977 and 1980 Gunnarsson went on tour with ABBA. He starred in ABBA - The Film .

After ABBA broke up, Gunnarsson worked on the arrangements for the musicals Chess , Les Misérables , Mamma Mia! and the Diggiloo show involved. He arranged strings and winds for Adam Ant , Celine Dion , Elton John , Westlife and Spider-Man 2 , among others , and worked as a producer for Alla Pugatschowa and Lasse Stefanz . Other well-known Swedish musicians Gunnarsson worked with include Kikki Danielsson , Lotta Engberg , Tomas Ledin , Ulf Lundell , Lena Philipsson , Magnus Uggla and Robert Wells .
