Ryosuke Tsuchiya (born November 29, 1994 ) is a Japanese speed skater .

Career

Tsuchiya started in Heerenveen for the first time in the Speed ​​Skating World Cup in November 2012 and took 16th place in the B group over 5000 m and tenth place in the mass start. At the Winter Universiade 2013 he was tenth over 5000 m and ninth over 10,000 m. At the individual distance world championships in 2015 in Heerenveen he came in 18th place in the mass start and at the individual distance world championships in 2016 in Kolomna on 18th place over 5000 m and seventh place in the team pursuit. In the 2016/17 season he won his first World Cup victory in the team pursuit in Astana . He also came third in the team pursuit in Stavanger and achieved seventh place in the mass start World Cup with four top ten placements. At the 2017 World Individual Distance Championships in Gangwon , he ran in the mass start and over 5000 m in 15th place, over 10,000 m in seventh place and fifth in the team pursuit. At the Winter Asian Games in Obihiro in February 2017 , he won the 5000 m, 10,000 m and the silver medal in the team pursuit. In the following season he finished third in the team pursuit at the World Cup in Minsk and took 16th place over 5000 m, tenth place over 10,000 m and fifth place in the team pursuit at the season highlight, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . In the 2018/19 season he won the team pursuit in Tomaszów Mazowiecki and took third place in the team pursuit in Tomakomai . He also won his first individual World Cup victory in the mass start in Salt Lake City and finished fifth in the mass start World Cup at the end of the season. At the individual distance world championships in 2019 in Inzell , he came in 19th place over 5000 m, 11th place over 10,000 m and fourth place in the team pursuit. At the beginning of March 2019, he finished 13th at the all- around world championship in Calgary .

At Japanese championships, Tsuchiya won three times over 10,000 m (2017, 2018, 2019) and once each over 5000 m (2018) and in the four-way competition (2019).
