Rytro is a village in the Nowosądecki powiat of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the rural community of the same name with 3830 inhabitants (2016).
geography
Rytro is located on the Poprad in the Sandezer Beskids ( Polish: Beskid Sądecki), between the Jaworzyna ridge in the west and the Radziejowa ridge in the east. The neighboring towns are Barcice Górne and Wola Krogulecka in the north, and Obłazy Ryterskie and Sucha Struga in the south.
history
The castle was probably built in the middle of the 13th century as the Polish response to the Hungarian connection of the area around Plaveč , upstream of the Poprad, on an old trade route to Hungary. It was mentioned as castrum knight (in 1312), Ryttro (1446), Villa Rither (1564), Rytter (1575). The name is probably derived from the German word knight .
The place initially belonged to the Kingdom of Poland (from 1569 in the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania ), Krakow Voivodeship , Sącz district. During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Rytro became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).
In 1788, German Lutherans were settled in the course of the Josephine colonization . After the abolition of patrimonial it formed a parish in the Nowy Sącz district .
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Rytro came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .
From 1975 to 1998 Rytro was part of the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship .
