São Joaquim da Barra , officially Portuguese Município de São Joaquim da Barra , until 1944 only São Joaquim , is a city in the Brazilian state of São Paulo . It is located 396 km from the capital São Paulo and within the agglomeration known as Aglomeração Urbana de Franca . The population was estimated on July 1, 2019 at 51,888 inhabitants, who live on a community area of around 411 km² and are called Joaquinenses ( joaquinenses ). The parish ranks 134th out of the state's 645 municipalities.
