As Genus VII designated Royal Saxon State Railways four-coupled Tender - steam locomotives for the mixed passenger and freight service. The Deutsche Reichsbahn classified the locomotives in the 98.71 series from 1925 .

history

The machines supplied by the Sächsische Maschinenfabrik (formerly Hartmann) in Chemnitz are almost all different from one another. The drive wheels had three different diameters, 1,710, 1,550 and 1,390 mm. What all locomotives had in common, however, was an axle base of 2,600 mm.

The machines were also delivered to the later nationalized railway companies Chemnitz-Komotauer Eisenbahngesellschaft , Chemnitz-Aue-Adorfer Eisenbahngesellschaft and Zwickau-Lengenfeld-Falkensteiner Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft .

In 1925, three machines with a 1,390 mm coupling wheel diameter were taken over from the Deutsche Reichsbahn , but they were retired in the same year.
