history

At the latest with the introduction of a continuous locomotive circulation between Dresden and Berlin in the summer of 1905, the K. Sächs started working. Sts. EB also noticed a lack of efficient flatland express train locomotives. Therefore, the development of the new genus was 1907 X H1 at Hartmann in Chemnitz commissioned. A two-cylinder superheated steam engine with simple steam expansion and two driving axes was chosen , which was considered to be absolutely sufficient for this purpose. At the same time, the two-cylinder version of the 2'C mountain express locomotives (class XII H1 ) was derived from it as a variation .

18 of the locomotives were built by the Saxon machine works in Chemnitz from 1909 to 1913 . They had little in common with the previous genus XV .

Although the X H1 was one of the most powerful German Atlantic locomotives because of its powerful boiler , the tractive power of its two driving axles was soon no longer able to cope with the demands of the time. Already during the First World War the X H1s were deported to subordinate services, and most recently they were used by the Döbeln depot in passenger train service between Leipzig and Dresden.

The Deutsche Reichsbahn took over 17 locomotives with the numbers 14 301–317 as class 14.3 and decommissioned the last two X H1s as the last Atlantic locomotives in Germany in 1932.

The locomotives were mostly with a Tender respondents to type sa 2'2 'T 21 (5 or 7 tons of coal) equipped, some locomotives were running times also with the big tenders of type sa 2'2' T 28th
