Saxon Cyclists Association

The Saxon Cyclists Association (SRB) was founded on October 10, 1891 in Leipzig .

1. Chairman from 1891 to 1896 was the publisher Alexander Duncker (publisher, 1850) , who lives in Machern . 1st Chairman from 1897: Dr. Hermann Bauer. "In 1897 the federal government was divided into 28 districts and 76 associations with 1953 members."

From 1893 the SRB publishes the cyclist newspaper. The Sächsische Rad- und Motorfahrer-Zeitung: Organ for cyclists, motorists and motorists was the official newspaper of the Saxon Cyclists Association between 1904 and 1920 .

In 1902 the Saxon Cyclists Association became a member of the cartel of German and Austrian cyclist and motorist associations . The Sächsische Rad- und Motorfahrer-Zeitung also acted as the official newspaper of this cartel in the Kingdom of Saxony. In 1924 the SRB was a founding member of the Association of German Cycling Associations .

Today the Saxon Cyclist Association comprises 125 clubs and cycling departments in various disciplines such as racing bikes , mountain biking , cycling , and artificial cycling .

Historical races and prizes

The following historical races and prize drives of the SRB were taken from a file in the Freiberg City Archives . Copies of the requests, permits, cost notices and driving conditions for the races were given to the cities concerned by the Saxon Ministry of Justice with the opportunity to comment.

  • "Rund um die Lausitz": 1909, 1911, 1912, 1913, 1914, 1915–1919 not held, then again from 1920.
  • "Zittau – Leipzig": 1908, 1909, 1912, 1913, 1914.

  • "Around through the Vogtland": September 1st, 1912.
  • Reliability trip of the Prestowerke Act.-Ges.-Chemnitz, September 10, 1911, directed by the SRB.
  • Battle of the Nations: 19./20. April 1913 (two-day Völkerschlacht anniversary trip), May 3, 1914.

Research is still being conducted into whether federal cups were awarded directly during a trip by the Saxon Cyclists' Association .
