The Südersteinstraße in Cuxhaven - Ritzebüttel is an old, approx. 0.8 km long street on the edge of the center of the city. It leads in an east-west direction from Grodener Chaussee / Wernerstraße to Westerwischweg / Abendrothstraße .

The side and connecting streets are named as Grodener Chaussee after the district, Wernerstraße 1904 after the administrator Charles Anthony Werner (1838-1891), Otto-Reubold-Straße, Marktplatz, Vorwerk after the castle estate, Nordersteinstraße after the location north of the "Steenborg" ( Ritzebüttel Castle ) or the route to the north, west row to the western rows of houses, Segelckestraße 1903 after the mayor Ferdinand Hinrich Segelcke (1834–1902), Abendrothstraße 1895 after the Ritzebüttler bailiff (1809–1811) Amandus Augustus Abendroth ( 1767–1842) and Westerwischweg after the Low German word "Wisch" for pasture land.

The street was named after its southern location to the city center and as Steinstraße.

After Ritzebüttel and Alt-Cuxhaven were united in 1872, the local area was expanded more towards the west. In 1890 the place had 4,905 inhabitants, in 1910 there were already 14,888.

The road to the west existed as a path and it was expanded at the end of the 19th century. The late medieval castle or the Ritzebüttel castle is the most important complex on the road. 1819 was the castle at St. Martin's Church , for whose construction the former crack Poppenbütteler bailiff, and since 1811 the Hamburg mayor or mayor Amandus Augustus Abendroth began. A market square developed in front of the church.

In terms of traffic, the road is opened up by the KVG bus routes 1004 ( Steubenhöft –Lappestraße) and 1018 ( train station / ZOB– Duhnen ) .
