Sascha Oskar Schoening , actually Oskar Theobald Rudolf Schoening , (born September 25, 1888 in Berlin , German Empire , † May 5, 1949 in Hamburg , British zone of occupation ) was a German actor .

Life

The former law student made his debut at the Komische Oper Berlin in 1911 . Further stages were Dessau , Gera , Frankfurt and Munich . From 1926 he appeared at the Schauspielhaus Zurich . In 1931 he founded the Volksbühne Zürich and directed it for a year and a half.

Schoening had already received several leading roles in productions of Rudolf del Zopp's Eiko-Film in 1914/15. After a long hiatus, he did not return to the camera until the age of the sound film. The compact Berliner embodied various marginal figures such as doctors, merchants, innkeepers, policemen and mayors.

When the range of films on offer became scarcer around 1940, Schoening intensified his theater work again. He was seen especially in the theater in the Admiralspalast and at the Komödienhaus. After the end of the war, he took over the management of the Dreiländer-Eck-Theater in Lörrach in 1945 and staged a number of plays there.
