history

In 1999, some young musicians from Thuringia and the neighboring federal states founded the LandesjugendSPASSorchester , which, in addition to making music together, also aimed to bring classical music closer to children and young people in particular . The first appearance took place in August 1999 in the St. Jakobus Church in Ilmenau . In the following two years individual concerts followed, initially primarily in Ilmenau and its surroundings. In 2003 the concept went beyond mere concerts. During the Kulturarena in Jena , the orchestra performed the puppet show Mr. Fuchs and Mrs. Elster . Since then, new puppet shows have been staged every year under the name PuppenSTÜBA . From 2004 international appearances followed, for example in Romania , where the orchestra supported a children's home in the city of Ineu for many years . In the same year there was also a concert in Debrecen, Hungary . Also in 2005 a sponsorship contract was signed with the Staatskapelle Weimar . The orchestra has been organized as a registered association since 2006, now under the name STÜBAphilharmonie . In 2008 the orchestra went on an encounter trip to Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia.

The STÜBAphilharmonie has been working with the Erfurt singer Clueso since 2004 . This resulted in a first participation in the Bundesvision Song Contest 2005 , here initially with four musicians. From this joint appearance a continuous collaboration with regular joint concerts developed. At the second appearance with Clueso at the Bundesvision Song Contest 2008 , this time with a large cast, they were able to achieve second place. In autumn 2009, the STÜBAphilharmonie went on a small tour with Clueso in 5 cities, including Bochum, where the "greatest band in the world" plays live with Clueso at the 1Live Krone on WDR. In July 2010 the double CD Clueso & Stüba Philharmonie was released , a recording of the Christmas concerts 2009 in the Hamburg Rolf Liebermann Studio of the NDR .

On October 3, 2010, Clueso and the STÜBAphilharmonie formed the musical framework for the ceremony during the celebration of the Day of German Unity on the steps of the Berlin Reichstag building .

The Art Festival Weimar 2015 was opened by the STÜBAphilharmonie with the world premiere of the commissioned work "Orchestronik". In August 2016 the orchestra played the concert program "Dahin!" With the Dresden singer Anna Mateur . on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Rio Reiser's death .

In 2019 the STÜBAphilharmonie rehearsed with the band De Phazz for a joint tour, for which no organizers were initially found. The musicians then produced the De Capo CD . The STÜBAphilharmonie was responsible for the selection of pieces from the De Phazz repertoire and the arrangements. After the CD was released, the organizers became aware of the project, so that around the turn of the year 2019/2020 the first joint concerts took place in Jena and Hamburg.

advancement

While the orchestra had only a few local sponsors in the early years, the range of sponsors expanded over the years. In the past, this included the Robert Bosch Foundation , the West-Eastern Encounters Foundation , the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth , the Thuringian Ministry of Culture and the Erfurt company Zughafen , located in the vicinity of Clueso , the core of a free network of artists and organizers , Companies and projects based in the old Erfurt freight yard.
