SVG Air ( S t. V incent G renadines Air ) is a Vincentian airline based in Kingstown . The airline is privately owned and was founded by the Barnard family. It flies to some destinations in the Caribbean and also operates charter flights .

history

The airline was founded in 1990 and began operating with a Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander . It is run by private owners (the Barnard and Gravel families). Its headquarters are in St. Vincent , but there are also offices in Barbados , St. Lucia and Grenada .

Destinations and fleet

SVG Air flies to a number of destinations in the Caribbean, including St. Lucia and Barbados.

As of April 2017 , SVG Air's fleet consisted of seven aircraft with an average age of 40 years. They all belong to the De Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 type .

Incidents

There have been two aircraft accidents since flight operations began . In November 2006, an Aero Commander crashed into the sea while flying from Canouan to St. Vincent on the approach to landing northwest of Bequia . The pilot and one passenger died. In August 2010, a machine disappeared just outside Canouan, where it was supposed to pick up an accident victim. Only the pilot was on board.
