- San Marino : For the first time, two women are running the state of San Marino at the same time: Vanessa D'Ambrosio and Mimma Zavoli take up their post as Capitano Reggente (until September 30, 2017).

- Frankfurt am Main / Germany : The European Central Bank (ECB) is putting the new 50 euro banknote into circulation. In a first step, there will be a total of around 5.4 billion pieces via ATMs, bank counters and cash register systems.
- Chan Shaichun / Syria : In an attack by the Syrian army, over 50 people are believed to be killed and more people are injured. Chemical warfare agents are said to have been used. Syria and its ally Russia denied the use of such weapons and referred to a rebel weapons depot that had been hit.
- Tikrit / Iraq : At least 31 people died and 40 others were injured in an attack by suspected Daesh fighters on a police station in Al-Zihoor district .

- Lahore / Pakistan : At least 6 people are killed and another 18 are injured in an attack on a Pakistani armed forces vehicle by a suicide bomber .
- Sepidsang / Iran : In an earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale, at least two people die in the Razavi-Khorasan province and at least 11 buildings are damaged.

- Golweyn / Somalia : When a land mine detonated in the Shabeellaha Hoose region, at least 19 passengers in a coach died.
- Banjul / Gambia : In the parliamentary elections, the UDP of Ousainou Darboe won the absolute majority with 31 of 53 seats and replaced the APRC of ex-President Yahya Jammeh and party leader Fabakary Jatta as the strongest force. Five seats also went to Mamma Kandeh's new Gambia Party for Democracy and Progress (GPDC) . The turnout was just 42 percent.
Friday 7th April 2017
- Homs / Syria : As a reaction to the alleged use of chemical weapons by Syria against rebels in Khan Shayhun , 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles are shot down by the US destroyers USS Ross and USS Porter operating in the eastern Mediterranean at the Syrian military airfield at Ash-Schairat . At least six soldiers die in the process. The runways remained largely intact, however.
- Stockholm / Sweden : In central Stockholm, a truck is driven into a crowd, as a result of which several people were injured and killed. The local authorities suspect a terrorist background. See also the attack in Stockholm 2017 .

- Barcelona / Spain : The Basque underground organization Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA) begins handing over their weapons. She had announced this step the day before.
- Moscow / Russia : After the US air strike on the Asch-Schaʿirat military airfield , Russian President Vladimir Putin sends the frigate Admiral Grigorovich from the Black Sea off the coast of Syria. She is supposed to stay there for more than a month.
- Paris / France : The director of the Islamic Center in Geneva , Hani Ramadan , is deported from France to Switzerland.

- Mogadishu / Somalia : A suicide bomber from the Islamist al-Shabaab militia blows himself up in a vehicle near the Ministry of Defense and kills at least 15 soldiers from the Somali armed forces.
- Tanta , Alexandria / Egypt : At least 41 people were killed and 120 injured in a detonation and a suicide bomber attack in the Egyptian cities of Tanta and Alexandria on two Coptic churches. The terrorist organization Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.

- Cairo / Egypt : One day after two attacks on Coptic churches , a state of emergency is declared in Egypt for three months.
- Mogadishu / Somalia : A suicide bomber from the Islamist al-Shabaab militia blows himself up in a vehicle in front of a military training camp and kills at least nine soldiers from the Somali armed forces.
- Washington, DC / United States : Conservative lawyer and federal appeals judge Neil Gorsuch was sworn in as a Supreme Court Justice in the Rose Garden of the White House .

- Berlin / Germany : According to the German headquarters for addiction issues (DHS), based in Hamm , up to 1.9 million people in Germany are dependent on drugs and around 1.77 million people are considered to be alcohol-dependent .
- Diyarbakir / Turkey : Three people are killed and 12 others injured in a bomb attack by the militant Kurdish PKK on the special police building in the Baglar district.
- Dortmund / Germany : The player Marc Bartra and a policeman are injured in an explosive attack on the team bus of the Borussia Dortmund football club . The quarter-final of the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League against AS Monaco will then be postponed for one day.

- Kabul / Afghanistan : Five people are killed and three others injured in a suicide attack near several ministries in the center of the Afghan capital. The terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) is committed to the attack.
- San Diego / United States : The US semiconductor manufacturer Qualcomm and the Canadian telecommunications equipment manufacturer Blackberry come to an agreement at the US arbitration court in San Diego . Qualcomm then pays Blackberry 814.9 million US dollars (the equivalent of 768.3 million euros) plus interest and legal fees.
- Tagbilaran / Philippines : During a deployment by the Philippine armed forces in the island province of Bohol , the commander of the Islamist Abu Sajaf Muamar Askali alias Abu Rami is shot. Five terrorists, three soldiers and one policeman died in the fighting.

- Ramallah / Palestine : According to the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian Prisoners Club organization, around 1,500 Palestinian prisoners have started a hunger strike in Israeli prisons and are protesting for better prison conditions (including the abolition of solitary confinement) and accelerated indictment proceedings. The hunger strike will end on May 27, 2017 following an agreement between the Palestinian Prisoners' Association and the Israeli prison authorities.
- Seoul / South Korea : Ex-President Park Geun-hye , who is in custody , is officially charged with bribery in a criminal court.
- Cascais / Portugal : A Piper PA-31T small aircraft registered in Switzerland from the company SYMBIOS Orthopédie SA with the destination Marseille crashes after taking off from Cascais airport near a discounter. Three inmates from France, one person from Switzerland and a Portuguese truck driver die on the ground.

- The Hague / Netherlands : The international police organization Interpol and the European Europol with the Joint Cybercrime Action Taskforce (J-CAT) announce the breaking up of an international pedophile ring . According to the Spanish National Police, there were around 38 arrests in 15 countries at the end of March 2017 as a result of the investigation into "Operation Tantalio". The members were active in a total of 18 countries and exchanged child pornography in around 25 groups within the WhatsApp messenger service .
- Dra Abu el-Naga / Egypt : Egyptian archaeologists announce the discovery of a well-preserved tomb with several mummies and colorful wooden sarcophagi. The tomb is about 3,500 years old and dates from the 18th dynasty (1550–1295 BC) and later, during the 21st dynasty , more mummies are said to have been added. In addition to the large finds, the researchers also discovered numerous small figures as grave attachments.
- Ma'rib / Yemen : The crash of a transport helicopter of the Saudi armed forces of the type S-70 Blackhawk come during the military operation in Yemen 12 soldiers killed.
- New York / United States : The Brazilian conglomerate Odebrecht is sentenced by a US district court to a fine of 2.6 billion US dollars for bribery and is based on an agreement with the judicial authorities of several countries as part of the investigation against the group. - Badhaadhe / Somalia : In an offensive by Kenyan soldiers as part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) in the Jubbada Hoose region against the Islamist Al-Shabaab militia, 52 suspected terrorists are killed near Badhaadhe.
- Baghdad / Iraq : After 16 months in captivity, 26 hostages from Qatar are released in Iraq . They were abducted in December 2015 while hunting with falcons in southern Iraq . Among them are eleven members of the Qatari Al Thani family. The basis is supposed to be the agreement in Syria between the Syrian government there and the Islamist rebels , mediated by Qatar and Iran .
- Balkh / Afghanistan : At least 140 soldiers are killed and another 60 soldiers are injured in an attack by the Taliban Islamist militia on a military base of the 209th Corps of the Afghan Armed Forces . The attackers broke through the first entrance gate with several cars. At a second entrance a driver blew himself up. The remaining attackers penetrated the military base and opened fire on the soldiers.
- Karlsruhe / Germany : Against the 28-year-old German-Russians Sergei V. an investigation is at the federal court opened. He is accused of having carried out the attack on the Borussia Dortmund team bus on April 11 .
- Moscow / Russia : At the request of the Ministry of Justice, the Russian Supreme Court has classified the religious community Jehovah's Witnesses as an extremist organization and therefore banned it. The property of the religious community is confiscated, its headquarters in St. Petersburg closed and the 395 regional associations dissolved.

- Ankara / Turkey : The Turkish Authority for Information and Communication Technologies (Bilgi Teknolojileri ve İletişim Kurumu; BTK) is blocking access to the Turkish-language Wikipedia from Turkish Internet platforms. Media reports justify this with content on "terror support" by the Turkish state. Once again, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan dismissed around 3,974 civil servants, mainly from the Ministry of Justice and the armed forces , by emergency decree 689 . - Frankfurt am Main / Germany : The 54-year-old agent Daniel M. of the Swiss Federal Intelligence Service (NDB), who works in a security area of a major Swiss bank, is arrested. He is apparently said to have spied on German tax investigators .
- Kathmandu / Nepal : The Swiss extreme mountaineer Ueli Steck dies trying to climb Mount Everest in under 48 hours. He slipped and fell in the process.
- Sidi Bouzid / Tunisia : A house raid in the Ouled Chebli district leads to a firefight between soldiers of the Tunisian National Guard and the terrorist group, the Okba Ibn Nafaa Brigade, an al-Qaida group in the Maghreb (AQIM). Two suspected extremists are killed and three others arrested.
- Dallas / United States : At least 14 people were killed in severe storms in the southern states . A series of tornadoes in Texas left four dead. Multiple floods occurred in the state of Missouri after heavy rainfall. Severe storms and deaths occurred in three other states. The governors of Oklahoma and Missouri declared a state of emergency to get aid more quickly.
