Thalberg is a district of the Wegscheid market in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau . Until 1972 it formed an independent municipality.

location

The scattered settlement Thalberg is located on the Wegscheid plateau, about six kilometers north of Wegscheid on the state road 213, from which the district road PA 46 branches off here.

history

The name Thalberg appears for the first time in the baptismal registers of the Wegscheid parish in the 17th century. In 1668, the Passau prince-bishop Wenzeslaus von Thun released the so-called New World between the Friedrichsberg and the Dreisessel for settlement. The settlers earned their livelihood from the meager income from agriculture, forest work, weaving and flax cultivation, which was supported by the prince-bishops. The extensive scattered settlements were initially grouped under the name Wenzelsreuth , only gradually larger towns like Breitenberg , Thalberg and Gollnerberg emerged from them. In 1788 there were 44 properties in Thalberg including Friedrichsberg and Mitterkrotzen, the area was under the Wenzelsreuth office of the Wegscheid district court.

After secularization and the transition of the New World into the Kingdom of Bavaria , the Thalberg community was formed in the wake of the edict of 1818 . Originally 45 remote houses based on the tax district of the same name, additional independent settlements were added or assigned. Thalberg became a branch in 1904 and an independent parish in 1920. In 1952, the municipality of Thalberg in the Wegscheid district comprised the districts Draxlweg, Hangerleiten, Hirschenberg, Kohlstatt, Mühldemmelberg, Oppenberg, Riendlhäuser, Stinglwiese, Stüblhäuser and Thalberg with Friedrichsberg and Mitterkrotzen. In 1964 a modern elementary school was built in Thalberg. It became part of the Breitenberg elementary school in 1971 and has existed as such to this day.

Thalberg was a municipality with the districts Draxlweg , Friedrichsberg , Hangerleiten , Hirschenberg , Kohlstatt , Mitterkratzen , Mühldemmelberg , Oppenberg , Riendlhäuser , Stinglwiese and Stüblhäuser . In the course of the regional reform , it was dissolved with effect from July 1, 1972 and incorporated into the Wegscheid market.
