The Admiral Grigorowitsch ( Russian Адмирал Григорович ) is a frigate of the Admiral Grigorowitsch class of the Russian Navy . It is named after the Imperial Russian Admiral Ivan Grigorowitsch and belongs to the Black Sea Fleet . The ship was laid down in December 2010 . The launch took place on March 14, 2014. The ship has been in service since March 11, 2016. Their home port is the Sevastopol naval base in the Crimea .

Mission history

In November 2016, the shelled Admiral Grigorovich from the Mediterranean positions of anti-government forces in Syria with several Cal -Marschflugkörpern. According to the Russian state media, IS was the only group attacked .

From April 3 to 5, 2017, the frigate took part in the Russian-Turkish PASSEX sea maneuvers. In April 2017, the ship was assigned to the operational unit in the Mediterranean and moved from the Black Sea off the Syrian coast. The relocation of the ship by the Russian military command was seen as an immediate reaction to the US air strike on the al-Sha'irat military airfield .

At the end of June 2017, the Admiral Grigorowitsch, together with the Admiral Essen and the submarine Krasnodar of the project 636, attacked targets in the Syrian province of Hama with calibrate cruise missiles. A total of six cruise missiles were fired. Russian state media quoted the Russian Defense Ministry as labeling the targets as belonging to IS.
