Armament

Project 11356 , designated by NATO as the Admiral Grigorowitsch class , is a frigate class of the Russian Navy. It is based on Project 1135 from the Soviet era.

history

Project 11356 is based on the ships of Project 1135 and its further developments Project 1135M (NATO: Kriwak-II-Class ) and Project 1135.1 (NATO: Kriwak-III-Class ). The Talwar class built for India (project 1135.6) is included in project 1356, but also has its own name. To differentiate, the ships in the lot built for the Russian Navy are also referred to as Project 11356M.

The units of Project 11356 differ from Project 1135, among other things, in the newly designed superstructures that offer limited stealth properties. The sonar system was changed to the type "Zvezda" M-1 with an MG-345 bow sonar and a new tow sonar.

Project 11356M

A class of 6 units was planned, 3 of which were initially ordered in 2010 from “ Jantar ” in Kaliningrad for the Black Sea fleet . By 2015 the Black Sea Fleet should receive 5 ships of this type. The ships of Project 11356M were originally designated by NATO as the Kriwak IV class, but later renamed the Admiral Grigorowitsch class . The sixth ship was initially canceled.

Because of the export restrictions imposed by the Ukraine, Ukrainian gas turbines and MTU diesel engines were no longer available from ship four . The unfinished ships four and five were sold to India in the summer of 2016. Two more ships for India are being built by Goa Shipyard Limited.

technology

drive

The drive consists of a COGAG system, each with a 17000 PS DN59 gas turbine driving a shaft. If necessary, a second UGT-6000 turbine can increase the output by 6000 HP per shaft. The maximum speed of the ships is 30 knots.

Armament

An 8-way UKSK (3R14) vertical take-off system is installed on the foredeck of the frigate . This can eight 3M54T or P-800 - anti-ship missiles to record. Alternatively, the vertical launch system can also 3M14T - cruise missiles are loaded.

The 9S90M Esch system , the naval version of the 9K317M Buk-M3, is used for air defense . It contains a vertical take-off system on the foredeck with 3 × 12 cells which are loaded with 3M317M guided missiles. These are supplemented by 8 9K38W Igla-W starters.

Secondary armament is a 100 mm A-190-1 gun turret , 2 AK-630 close-range anti-aircraft guns, 2 533 mm twin torpedo tubes, a 12-slot RPK-8 depth charge launcher , 2 10-slot 55 mm DP grenade launchers 65 and 2 12.7 mm Kord machine guns.

A Kamow Ka-27 and an Orlan-10 drone are also on board.

Sensors and electronic warfare

Project 11356 is equipped with a MR-760 Fregat M2M radar (NATO: "Top Plate") to search for air and surface contacts, which was positioned on the top of the main mast and has a range of approximately 300 km. A type MR-352 Positiv M1.2 (NATO: “Cross Dome”) radar is also located on the helicopter hangar under an antenna dome to search for air and surface contacts. This works in the X-band and has a range of around 150 km.

To search for underwater contacts , a sonar system consisting of a low-frequency MGK-335EM-03 Platina (NATO: “Bull Horn”) sonar device and a Winetka-EM towed sonar was installed.

The 3M317M anti-aircraft missiles are guided by six 3R90 Orej fire control radars (NATO: "Front Dome"). These are installed on the roof of the bridge and amidships on the superstructure by the chimney.

The TK-25-5 Pribor system with 4 KT-216 decoys is installed for electronic warfare .

units

The home port of the three completed units is Sevastopol in the Crimea .
