Project 11661 , also known as the Gepard class ( Russian "Гепард" ) from the Russian side , is a class of frigates of the Russian and Vietnamese navies .

description

Project 11661 was designed as a "small anti-submarine ship" and a further development of the Grischa class (Project 1124). The first ship of the class was in 1991 in the shipyard Selenodolsk placed on Kiel. However, financial difficulties delayed the completion, so that it was not put into service until 2001. Two more ships are currently under construction.

technology

The frigates are 102.1 m long and 13.1 m wide, with a draft of 5.6 m and a displacement of 1500 t. The hull and superstructure are largely made of steel. The drive consists of a CODAG system with a 5,884 kW diesel engine and two gas turbines with 21,300 kW each. In addition to various radar systems and a sonar system mounted in the ship's hull, there is also a towing sonar .

Armament

A quadruple launcher for SS-N-25 anti-ship missiles is available on both sides .

A 76 mm AK-176 gun with 500 rounds of ammunition is installed at the bow . The rate of fire is up to 120 rounds per minute, the range 15 km. This gun is also suitable for defense against cruise missiles such as the AGM-84 Harpoon or BGM-109 Tomahawk .

An OSA-M double starter with 20 4K33 Osa-M missiles is available for air defense. Two six-barrel AK-630 guns with 2000 rounds of ammunition each serve for close-range defense. The rate of fire is 5000 rounds per minute.

For anti-submarine are a RBU-6000 -Wasserbombenwerfer and four 533-mm torpedo tubes mounted.

Four PK-16 flare launchers provide protection against IR and radar-guided missiles.

Other variants

Other versions are available for export.

  • Cheetah 1 : There is no towing sonar, but a helipad is available.
  • Gepard 2 : The towing sonar and the OSA-M are omitted, but a helipad and a hangar are available.
  • Gepard 3 : Width was increased to 13.8 m and the displacement to a maximum of 2100 t. Instead of the AK-630 guns, a single CADS-N-1 - CIWS is installed in the bow. There is a helipad above the towing sonar and a hangar instead of the OSA-M.
  • Gepard 4 : Unarmed SAR ship with hangar and helipad.
  • Gepard 5 : Helipad and extended range (6000 nm at 10 kn); the gas turbines were replaced by diesel with 2 × 5,884 kW, the maximum speed was reduced to 23 knots.

Vietnam

Project 11661 Dinh Tien Hoang 2015

The Vietnamese Navy signed a contract in December 2006 to purchase two Gepard-class frigates. The ships were built and launched at the Zelenodolsk shipyard in Tatarstan . The completion takes place in Kronstadt . Compared to the Russian ships, the ships meet some special Vietnamese requirements. With the same length, they displace 2,100 tonnes with a draft that is slightly increased to 3.70 m. They have structures with stealth properties and are equipped for the operation of on- board helicopters . The range should be 5,000 nautical miles at 10 kn. The two frigates entered service in 2011. The 2014 annual report of the Russian Zelenodolsk shipyard revealed that the Southeast Asian state had ordered two more units.
