  • Bucharest / Romania : The number of demonstrators against the government's anti- corruption law increases to 250,000 people. They protest u. a. against the fact that corruption cases with a volume of less than 50,000 euros should remain unpunished in future, but also against the Sorin Grindeanu government in general.
  • Paris / France : A 29-year-old Egyptian attacks a patrolling soldier with a machete in the Carroussel du Louvre shopping gallery in front of the Louvre . The soldier is easily injured. Another soldier opens fire and seriously injures the attacker.
  • Seoul / South Korea : During his visit to Seoul, US Secretary of Defense James N. Mattis sent the message to North Korea , which carried out two internationally confirmed nuclear weapons tests in 2016 , that a possible nuclear attack on South Korea would be answered with an “effective and overwhelming” counter-attack.
  • Valletta / Malta : Informal meeting of the European Council with the Heads of State or Government of the European Union (EU), with the exception of the United Kingdom, on migration issues. The EU- Turkey agreement of March 20, 2016 to deal with the refugee crisis on the Western Balkans route is adhered to . In order to contain the refugee crisis on the Mediterranean route , cooperation with Libya , which is affected by the civil war, is to be intensified. This includes training, equipment and support for the Libyan National Coast Guard and other relevant agencies.

  • Frankfurt am Main / Germany : The German Bank for Reconstruction (KfW) signed on behalf of the federal government with the Iraqi government a framework agreement on a unbound financial loan of 500 million euros for the reconstruction of water, energy and other public key infrastructure in Iraq to To enable internally displaced persons to return to the areas liberated from the Islamic State (IS).
  • Kuala Lumpur / Malaysia : Kim Jong-nam , eldest son of the former North Korean head of state Kim Jong-il and half-brother and regime critic of Kim Jong-un , is at Kuala Lumpur airport by at least one woman who is apparently contaminated with the chemical warfare agent and neurotoxin VX Cloth murdered. A liquid had been splashed on his face, he had explained to the airport staff.
  • Lahore / Pakistan : During a demonstration by pharmacists against a new law to regulate the health sector, a suicide bomber blows himself up, killing at least 16 people and injuring 53 others. The Taliban splinter group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar ( German  "Community of Freedom Fighters" ) is committed to the act.
  • Taichung / Taiwan : 32 people die in a serious bus accident and 13 other occupants are injured, some seriously.

  • Strasbourg / France : The European Parliament approves the controversial "comprehensive economic and trade agreement between the EU and Canada" ( CETA ) with 408 votes in favor, 254 against and 33 abstentions . CETA aims to stimulate trade by cutting tariffs on most goods and services traded, as well as increasing investment flows. Imports and exports are expected to increase by 20 percent when the agreement is fully in place.
  • Washington, DC / United States : The Trump administration spokesman said Russia should return Crimea to Ukraine . The President of the Russian Parliament Vyacheslav Volodin reacts indignantly: "The Crimea is part of Russia."

  • Berlin / Germany : The district court sentenced two participants in an illegal street race to life imprisonment , who drove a car at 160 km / h into an uninvolved vehicle in 2016 , the occupant of which was killed as a result. The charge was murder , with prosecutors considering base motives and dangerous substances as characteristics of the murder. In pronouncing the verdict, the judge recognizes the dangerous substances as a proven murder feature. It is the first murder sentence against participants in an illegal street race (and will be overturned by the BGH in February 2018).
  • Nassau County / United States : In Rockville, the city with the highest percentage of Jews in the United States, 143 students from the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School are evacuated. A total of 20 Jewish establishments received bomb threats by telephone , but none of them found explosives.
