- Bucharest / Romania : The number of demonstrators against the government's anti- corruption law increases to 250,000 people. They protest u. a. against the fact that corruption cases with a volume of less than 50,000 euros should remain unpunished in future, but also against the Sorin Grindeanu government in general.
- Paris / France : A 29-year-old Egyptian attacks a patrolling soldier with a machete in the Carroussel du Louvre shopping gallery in front of the Louvre . The soldier is easily injured. Another soldier opens fire and seriously injures the attacker.
- Seoul / South Korea : During his visit to Seoul, US Secretary of Defense James N. Mattis sent the message to North Korea , which carried out two internationally confirmed nuclear weapons tests in 2016 , that a possible nuclear attack on South Korea would be answered with an “effective and overwhelming” counter-attack.

- Hindu Kush / Afghanistan , Pakistan : At least 135 people die in avalanches in the Afghan province of Nuristan and the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa .
- Houston / United States : The Super Bowl LI in American football between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons went to a 18-point comeback the Patriots in the extension . In the end, the Patriots win 34:28.
- Libreville / Gabon : In the final of the 31st African Football Championship in the Stade de l'Amitié , Cameroon wins 2-1 against Egypt .
- Vaduz / Liechtenstein : In the state elections , the Christian-conservative Progressive Citizens' Party (FBP) emerged as the strongest force with 35.2% of the party votes, followed by the socially conservative Patriotic Union (VU) with 33.7%.

Imports and exports are expected to increase by 20 percent when the agreement is fully in place.
- Washington, DC / United States : The Trump administration spokesman said Russia should return Crimea to Ukraine . The President of the Russian Parliament Vyacheslav Volodin reacts indignantly: "The Crimea is part of Russia."

In pronouncing the verdict, the judge recognizes the dangerous substances as a proven murder feature. It is the first murder sentence against participants in an illegal street race (and will be overturned by the BGH in February 2018).
