  • Bali / Indonesia : At the 85th General Assembly of the international police organization Interpol , the Chinese Vice Minister for National Security, Meng Hongwei, is elected as the new president. Amnesty International has concerns that China may use the post not only to fight corruption. More than 800 delegates from 164 of the 190 member countries also agree to include biometric data when sharing intelligence on suspected terrorists and better information sharing in general.
  • Hamburg / Germany : The Hamburg Airport receives honor of the late German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt called Hamburg Airport Helmut Schmidt .
  • Mazar-e Sharif / Afghanistan : A car bomb attack with a truck on the German consulate general claims at least six deaths, all of Afghan origin, and over 120 injured. The Taliban spokesman Sabiullah Mujahid subsequently referred to a German partial culpability in a US- led air strike on November 3rd. At that time, 30 Afghans were killed.

  • Berlin / Germany : Chancellor Angela Merkel announces her renewed candidacy for a fourth term in the 2017 federal election in the CDU presidium . In addition, on December 6, 2016, she ran again for the party chairmanship at the federal party conference in Essen , which she has held since April 2000.
  • Kanpur / India : In a rail accident, several wagons of the Patna-Indore express train derail and hit the side, killing at least 140 people and injuring 200 others. The exact course of the accident has not been clarified.
  • Paris / France : In the first presidential elections for the Conservative Republicans (LR) with seven applicants, the former Prime Minister François Fillon leads with 42% after a first partial count . According to projections, 3.9 to 4.3 million French participate in the area code. A runoff election for the presidential candidate of the LR between Fillon and Alain Juppé follows on November 27th.
  • Port-au-Prince / Haiti : The Haitian voters are voting on a new head of state.   • Adana / Turkey : At least two people die and 21 others are injured in a suspected terrorist attack in front of the governor's office of the southern Turkish provincial capital Adana. The Turkish government blames the Kurdish Workers' Party ( PKK) for the attack.
  • Berlin / Germany : The federal grand coalition agrees to align the calculation of pension entitlements in East Germany with the West German calculation method by 2025 and to improve the position of pensioners who have been classified by doctors as being less able to work. Since the coalition has a majority in the Bundestag , a corresponding law is very likely.
  • Bogotá / Colombia : The Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia ( FARC ) sign a peace treaty to settle the guerrilla and drug war that has been waged since the 1960s. The first treaty between the government and FARC on August 24th failed to get popular approval in a referendum.
  • El Salvador : 120 km off the Central American coast, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 M w occurs . The shock waves hit El Salvador and Nicaragua .
  • Fengcheng / China : At least 67 people are killed when a platform of a cooling tower crashes on a coal-fired power plant construction site.
  • Haifa / Israel : More than 10,000 residents of the city leave their homes due to bush fires . Large fires are also raging in other parts of the country . The authorities assume arson.
  • Hilla / Iraq : More than 80 Shiite pilgrims are killed in a car bomb attack in a truck at a gas station near the city . The Islamic State is committed to the act.
  • Beijing / China : The government of the People's Republic criticizes the agreement reached by South Korea and Japan on the free exchange of intelligence information. Most recently, tensions in the region increased due to territorial conflicts in the China Sea and North Korean nuclear tests.
