  • Baghdad / Iraq : At least 292 people are killed and 300 others injured in a car bomb attack by the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) in a shopping area in the Karrada district . Another explosive device kills two people in the Al-Shaab neighborhood of al-Aʿzamiyya district.
  • Kappelen / Switzerland : In an explosion in a hangar at Biel-Kappelen airfield, seven small aircraft, including vintage cars, are destroyed. The property damage is estimated at three million Swiss francs.
  • Monguno / Nigeria : Two people die and five others are injured in an attack by the Boko Haram on Marte Road in Borno .

  • Ankara / Turkey : The Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş ( AKP ) announces the temporary suspension of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) after the state of emergency , with a reason under Article 15 of the Convention in times of war or emergency.
  • Yerevan / Armenia : An ongoing hostage-taking of police officers by opponents of the government also leads to violent clashes between the police and supporters of the opposition and sympathizers with the hostage-takers. The hostage takers are demanding the release of opposition leader Shirajr Sefiljan . According to the Ministry of Health, more than 50 people are injured. There have been several arrests of protesters.
  • Paris / France : The French nuclear regulatory authority ASN does not issue the test certificate for one of the steam generators for the Fessenheim nuclear power plant , which means that the operating license expires. The reactor will remain switched off until further notice.
  • Sêrtar / China : Human rights organizations publish reports that state authorities have started demolishing parts of the housing estate in the vicinity of Larung Gar , one of the largest teaching institutes of Tibetan Buddhism . The demolition of thousands of buildings is officially declared due to fire safety reasons, poor hygiene and overpopulation. Larung Gar is currently closed to western journalists and travelers.

  • Munich / Germany : In an attack in the Moosach district, nine people are shot by a German student. 16 more people are injured, three of them seriously. According to the police, the emergency services with the support of special operations units of the Federal Police and neighboring police headquarters are on duty with a total of around 2,300 police officers, as an acute terrorist situation was initially considered.

  • Kabul / Afghanistan : At a Hazara demonstration in the Dehmasang district of Kabul for a high-voltage line, two suicide bombers killed at least 61 people and injured another 200. The terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) is committed to the attack.

  • Al-Kazimiyya / Iraq : A suicide bomber blows himself up outside a checkpoint of the Iraqi police and kills at least 15 people. The terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) is committed to the attack.
  • Ansbach / Germany : During the Ansbach Open, an explosives attack occurred not far from the festival area , in which at least ten people were injured and the perpetrator was killed.
  • Nieder-Roden / Germany : 29 people are injured in a lightning strike during the 20th Nieder-Röder Wine Festival.
  • Reutlingen / Germany : In Reutlingen a man kills a woman with a 60 centimeter long kebab knife. According to eyewitnesses, there had previously been an argument between the two. The attacker injured two other people. The alleged violent perpetrator from Reutlingen worked with his victim for months before the attack - according to him, both were a couple in private.
  • Tehran / Iran : Brigadier General Mohammed Resa Nagdi of the paramilitary militia Basij-e Mostaz'afin of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard warns the citizens of the "pernicious" influence of satellite television on the "morality and culture of society". Its use resulted in “an increase in divorces, drug addiction and insecurity”. The state authorities have implemented the ban in force in the country and destroyed 100,000 illegally installed parabolic antennas (satellite dishes) in raids . The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Leadership under Ali Dschannati is calling for a change in the law, since "70 percent of Iranians" use parabolic antennas.
  • Zaandam / Netherlands : The merger of the Dutch Koninklijke Ahold group with the Belgian Delhaize Group to form Ahold Delhaize has created one of the largest food retail groups in the world.

  • Lockhart / United States : When a hot air balloon from the provider Heart of Texas Hot Air Balloon Rides crashes , 16 people are killed. According to an official from the Texas Department of Public Safety, a collision with a power line is suspected.
  • Santa Marta / Colombia : At the opening of a branch of the marine research institute INVEMAR in Santa Marta, President Juan Manuel Santos announces the salvage of the 300-year-old Spanish galleon " San José ", which sank off Cartagena .
  • Tunis / Tunisia : After the collapse of the governing coalition, 118 members of parliament vote against incumbent Prime Minister Habib Essid in a vote of confidence . With 27 abstentions, only three MPs vote for Essid.
