Sachrang (alternative title: Sachrang - Eine Chronik aus den Bergen ) is a German television film in three parts from 1978 . It is based on the novel Der Müllner-Peter von Sachrang by Carl Oskar Renner .

action

The film tells the story of the historically documented miller's son Peter Huber (1766–1843) from Sachrang during the Napoleonic Wars from 1792 to 1815.

As the fifth of seven children, Peter was to become a pastor. However, he broke off his studies to take over his father's flour mill. He returns to his home village as an outsider and is targeted by the arbitrary authorities.

The Sachrang near the border - only about one kilometer from Tyrol - was accidentally attacked by French troops who believed they were on Austrian territory. The mill of the Müllnerpeter was also the target of the attacks.

Sachrang as a backdrop

The power lines that had been visible until then were laid underground especially for the film. Some paved roads were covered with gravel and the numerous television antennas were dismantled. Hundreds of Sachrang residents, including many children, played as extras in the film.

In 2004, the evening show of Bavarian Television showed a contribution by Brigitte Kornberger about the filming at the time and the effects on the location of the Bavarian Broadcasting’s most expensive in-house production at 3.5 million DM .
