The Saxony Source GmbH is a mineral water - and soft drinks bottling plant in Saxony Eilenburg . It belongs to the Franken Brunnen group from Neustadt an der Aisch in Bavaria . The products are mainly sold under the Ileburger Sachsen Quelle brand .
history
There has been a mineral water spring in Eilenburg since at least 1888 . The inner-city parent company of Hermann Köhler KG in the Breiten Strasse soon became too small after the Second World War, so that in the 1960s the former excursion restaurant Neue Welt in the Schlossaue was moved into. Initially semi-publicly as Ileburger Schloßbrunnen , the company was renamed VEB Beverage Factory Eilenburg in 1972 and was subordinate to the Leipzig Beverage Combine. During the GDR times were u. a. the brands Club-Cola , Quick Cola , Lido-orange , Mandora , Karena and Party-Soda are bottled. The total output in 1981 was almost 55 million bottles with more than 150 employees and a small branch in Hohburg .
In 1991 the Bavarian mineral water company Franken Brunnen took over the bottling plant Köhler and expanded it with the brand Ileburger to one of the largest East German mineral water springs. For this purpose, a large bottling plant was established between Eilenburg and Hainichen , which was expanded again in 2004 to include a new returnable PET system. According to the company, Ileburger is one of the fastest growing brands in Eastern Germany. In 1993, the ili beaver was introduced as a mascot for the barrel shower, which is particularly popular with children . In 2010, more than 60 million liters of mineral water and soft drinks were bottled in Eilenburg for the first time. Comedian Olaf Schubert has been a testimonial for Ileburger since 2012 . In this context, the company started a wide-ranging advertising campaign with billboards, radio spots, a completely new website and work on social networks. The bottle label has also been revised accordingly and now focuses on the term Sachsen Quelle .

Container
The company has a relatively large proportion of products offered in returnable containers . The 0.7 liter glass bottle ( standard well bottle ) and the 1 liter mineral water bottle (PET) from the German Wells Cooperative (GDB) are used for the mineral water . Sweet drinks are mainly offered in the slightly bulbous 1-liter (PET) bottle from GDB. Filling is also increasingly taking place in non-returnable containers of sizes 0.5 and 1.5 liters.
