The Mowdok Mual , also called Saka Haphong , is a mountain in Bangladesh on the border with Myanmar .

location

The summit of the mountain is located in the southeast of Bangladesh to the east of the Upazila Thanchi in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Chittagong Division belonging district of Bandarban in the Mizo Hills , a ridge having a southern foothills of the Himalayas forms, about 300 meters west of the border with Myanmar . The flanks of the mountain extend into the Mindat district in Myanmar's Chin State .

During an excursion in February 2006, the height of the Mowdok Mual was determined. The altitude measured with GPS was 1064 meters. ACME Mapper gives the height of the mountain as 1045 meters, peak excavators as 1052 meters. This makes the Mowdok Mual the highest point in the national territory of Bangladesh , higher than the Keokradong ( 980  m ), which was formerly the highest mountain in Bangladesh and is now counted as the fourth highest mountain.

The Mowdok Mual is the only mountain in Bangladesh that exceeds a height of 1000 meters. The Zow Tlang ( 999  m ) located 13 kilometers to the south and the Dumlong ( 997  m ) located 28 kilometers to the north come close to 1000 meters . The nearest mountain, which is higher than the Mowdok Mual, is about 42 kilometers further east in Myanmar and has an altitude of 1233 meters.
