Salomon from Haber
Salomon Haber , von Haber from 1829 , ( May 17, 1764 in Breslau - January 13, 1839 in Karlsruhe ) was a German court banker .
Life
He came from a poor Jewish family in Breslau who came from Habern in Bohemia and moved to Breslau via Prague . Haber was married to Friederieke Model (1773–1831), the daughter of a court factor , from around 1798 . At first Haber was an employee of his father-in-law; but he soon founded an independent bill of exchange and commission business . In 1794 he officially became a court agent in Baden, which made him financier of the Grand Dukes of Baden . 1829 Haber was founded by Grand Duke I. Ludwig ennobled .
Haber also acted as the main financier of the Waghäusel sugar factory , the Ettlingen cotton spinning mill and the von Keßler machine factory.
He had the Palais Schloßplatz No. 2 built in Karlsruhe , which later became the property of Margrave Friedrich and became the seat of government. As a devout Jew, Haber was a co-founder of the Kultusverein and a member of the Jewish council .
The following children came from the marriage with Friederieke Model: Moritz von Haber (1798–1872), Ludwig Freiherr von Haber-Linsberg (1804–1892), Eli von Haber (1807–1881) and Samuel Arthur von Haber (1812–1898).
