The Alterbach , also called Alter Bach , is a 10 km long river in the Austrian state of Salzburg . The lower part of its course lies in the north of the state capital Salzburg .
geography
The Alterbach rises at approx. 680 m above sea level. A. in the municipality of Koppl in the east of the city of Salzburg and flows to the west at the foot of the Gaisberg , where it flows through the Salzburg districts of Gnigl and Itzling and then flows into the Salzach at ( 414 m above sea level ) .
The villages through which the river flows from the source to the mouth are:
- Koppl: districts of Unterkoppl, Guggenthal, Heuberg
- Salzburg: districts Gnigl, Itzling
Hydrology
The catchment area of the Alterbach is approx. 30 km².
The mean water at the Itzling gauge is approx. 0.85 m³ / s, the hundred-year high water approx. 55 m³ / s.
