Sam Leigh-Brown

Sam Leigh-Brown (born January 8, 1969 in Manchester ) is a British singer who has lived in Germany since the 1990s.

Sam Leigh-Brown comes from a family of musicians. Her mother was a big band singer, her father a saxophonist . She left home in 1990 and moved to mainland Europe with a guitar . She finally came to Dortmund as a street musician via Spain and France . She then studied jazz singing in Arnhem , before spending many years in Cologne and on Düsseldorf's Kiefernstrasse .

Larger became famous for Sam Leigh-Brown as a singer of the Düsseldorf Frank Popp Ensemble , which in 2003 with her texted Hip Teens Do not Wear Blue Jeans a summer hit landed. The song reached the top half of the music charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland .

Before that, Leigh-Brown had often appeared as a singer in the band Jazzkantine and the "jazzy multicultural formation" NOHA . She also worked for other artists and bands as a guest and studio singer, for example for the United Women's Orchestra and the Hessischer Rundfunk Big Band . In 2005 she temporarily withdrew from the stage for a baby break . In 2008 she was seen again with the Frank Popp Ensemble at the Lake Side Festival in Hergiswil on Lake Lucerne .

Sam Leigh-Brown later moved to Berlin with her daughter . She has meanwhile worked for Max Mutzke, among others, and toured with Moonbootica . In 2012 she took part in the second season of the singing casting show The Voice of Germany , where she reached the “Battle Round” in the Xavier Naidoos team .
