Sam MacLeod (born November 9, 1994 in Edinburgh ) is a British automobile racing driver .

Career

MacLeod began his motorsport career in karting in 2007 , where he remained active until 2012. Among other things, he was fourth in the 2011 CIK-FIA European card championship. In 2012, he also gained his first experience in formula racing when he competed in a Formula Ford individual event. In 2013 MacLeod drove for Fortec Motorsports in the British Formula Renault . He won a race and was on the podium five times. He finished the season in sixth place. He also took part in three Northern European Formula Renault events for Fortec . He also made three guest starts in the British Formula Ford. In 2014 MacLeod took part in the German Formula 3 Cup for Van Amersfoort Racing . He won three races and was on the podium twelve times. He finished the season in fourth place. He also competed in a few British Formula 3 championship races for various teams . He won four races and was fourth overall. He also took part in Formula 3 individual races and made two guest starts in the Japanese Formula 3 Championship .

In early 2015 MacLeod competed for Giles Motorsport in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand. He scored two wins and finished on the podium in three other races. He finished the season in fifth place. MacLeod then competed for Motopark in the European Formula 3 championship in 2015 . He got out of the championship one race weekend before the end of the season and finished 24th overall. In 2016 MacLeod was without a permanent commitment. For Fortec Motorsports, he took part in an event of the Euroformula Open and two Formula 3 individual events.
