Samuel "Sammy" Henderson (born November 25, 1944 in Glasgow ) is a former Scottish football player and coach.

Career

Sammy Henderson began his career at Ashfield FC in Possilpark , a district of the Scottish city of Glasgow . In February 1962, Henderson moved to Celtic Glasgow . The defensive player made his professional debut at Celtic on February 19, 1964 in the league game against Dundee United . With Celtic Glasgow he won the Scottish Championship , the Cup and League Cup several times in the 1960s . In 1967 he won with Celtic as part of the Lisbon Lions in the final of the European Cup against Inter Milan . For the Bhoys , however, he only played a few competitive games until he left in the summer of 1967. He moved to Stirling Albion for a fee of £ 5,000 . With his new club, he rose from Division One in the first season . In the following years the resurgence was missed. At the end of the 1972/73 season , Henderson moved to Clydebank FC for £ 20,000 . Three years later he ended his career as a player with the bankies due to cartilage damage. From 1981 to 1988 he was the coach of the team from Clydebank .
