Samsung Ativ is the name of a product line of Windows devices from the South Korean company Samsung Electronics . Smartphones , tablet computers , all-in- ones and notebooks are part of the Ativ series. This was introduced on August 29, 2012 at IFA 2012 . What they all have in common is the Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8 operating system in different versions. Microsoft Office is preinstalled on all devices (only the trial version on devices with Windows 8 Pro, the full version on RT devices). Additional apps can be downloaded from the Windows (Phone) Store . The name Ativ is an anagram of the Latin word Vita, which means life .

Smartphones

Ativ S

The Samsung Ativ S is the first smartphone from Samsung Electronics to come with Microsoft Windows Phone 8 . The entire housing is kept in metallic color and is made entirely of plastic despite the metallic surface . The dimensions of the Ativ S are similar to the Samsung Galaxy S III . Sales started in Germany on February 4, 2013. It is the only Windows Phone 8 smartphone that is not colored, but looks metallic.

The Ativ S is available in two versions. The i8750 version is intended for Europe and Asia with HSPA +, the T899M model is an LTE version for the USA and Canada. However, this only supports a single LTE frequency. Another difference is that the i8750 supports a maximum of 32 GB microSD memory cards, while the T899M version supports a maximum of 64 GB microSD memory cards. The US model was also only initially sold with a 32 GB internal memory.

The Samsung Ativ Smart PC is a tablet computer on which Microsoft Windows 8 is installed as the operating system. It is characterized by an optionally attachable keyboard that turns the tablet into a notebook .

Like the Ativ Smart PC, it is characterized by an optionally attachable keyboard that turns the tablet into a notebook .

Ativ tab

The Samsung Ativ Tab is a tablet computer running the Microsoft Windows RT operating system . In March 2013, Samsung announced that it would stop selling the Ativ Tab in Germany and other European countries due to the poor sales figures.

Ativ Book 9 Plus

In June 2013 the Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus was presented. The successor to the Samsung Ultrabook series 9 Series is a performance-optimized ultrabook. It has Windows 8 preinstalled, has a high-resolution touchscreen (qHD +, e.g. 3,200 × 1,800 pixels) and an aluminum housing. It weighs about 1.3 kg.

Ativ Book 9 Lite

In June 2013 the Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite was presented. It's a price-optimized ultrabook. This version, which is simpler than the Plus series, is available in black and white, has Windows 8 preinstalled and has a touchscreen (HD, e.g. 1,366 × 768 pixels). The housing is made of plastic.
