Torsti started participating in FIS races in November 2006 at the age of 15 . Two years later he celebrated his first victory at this level. He made his debut in the European Cup in November 2009. One month later, on December 20, 2009, the first World Cup appearance followed (failure in the first round of the giant slalom in Alta Badia ). For several years he hardly achieved any noteworthy successes. Finally, in November 2014, he won a European Cup giant slalom in Levi . He won his first World Cup points a little later on December 7, 2014 in the giant slalom in Beaver Creek , where he finished in 13th place.
While he made it into the top 20 twice in the 2014/15 World Cup season, a 26th place remained his best result the following winter. The 2016/17 season was not very successful either, until he surprised everyone on January 7, 2017 with 10th place at the Chuenisbärgli in Adelboden .
