from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Samuel Ludwig Hartig (mostly Ludwig Hartig ; born January 31, 1790 in Neusalz , Lower Silesia ; † July 8, 1868 in Züllichau , Neumark ) was a German organ builder in Lower Silesia and Neumark in Brandenburg.

Life

Ludwig Hartig initially trained as a carpenter in Niesky and went to Johann Gottlieb Benjamin Engler in Breslau in 1808 , where he learned organ building and worked as a journeyman from around 1812. From 1813 to 1815 he took part in the Wars of Liberation as a soldier. In 1816 Ludwig Hartig started his own business as an organ builder in his hometown Neusalz (now Nowa Sól). In 1829 he went to Breslau, where he helped his teacher Gottlieb Engler to build the organ in St. Bernardine. From 1832 Ludwig Hartig worked in Züllichau (today Sulechów) in New Mark , where he worked until his death in 1868.

His son Carl Friedrich Ludwig Hartig (1866–1933) was also an organ builder. However, only one installation of a Schuke organ in Züllichau is known of him. Later he was a car mechanic.
