San José is a country city in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
San José is the central place of the canton of San José in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) La Guardia in the province of Andrés Ibáñez . The city is located on the right bank of the Río Piraí at an altitude of 507 m between the cities of La Guardia in the north and Santa Rita in the south.
geography
San José is located in a tropical humid climate on the eastern edge of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Oriental . The region was covered by subtropical rainforest before colonization , but is now mostly cultivated land .
The annual average temperature of the region is around 24 ° C (see El Torno climate diagram), the monthly average temperatures fluctuate between 20 ° C in June and July and 26 ° C from November to February. Due to the immigration of indigenous populations from the Altiplano in the course of the 20th century, the region has a certain proportion of Quechua population, in the municipality of La Guardia 17.1 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.
