Operation in Afghanistan - Attack of the Desert Serpents is a 2009 Canadian horror film .

action

Soldiers from a special forces unit led by Richard Stanley are reportedly investigating a disused mine in Afghanistan when they are ambushed by the Taliban . They are captured and locked in the mine building. There they suddenly feel strong tremors, after which their kidnappers seem to have disappeared. The soldiers can break free and find themselves completely alone in the mine. When she tries to save a helicopter, a huge snake suddenly shoots out of the desert floor, destroys the helicopter and kills one of the unit's soldiers. The rest of them manage to return to the mine. You can see that the giant snakes react to sounds. The soldiers can repair an old SUV and try to escape. After a short drive, a little girl, Isla, suddenly stands in the middle of the road and forces the soldiers to an emergency stop, in which the jeep is destroyed and the driver Susan Eno is seriously injured. She sacrifices herself for the group by drawing the attention of the approaching giant snakes to her by screaming loudly and thus allowing the rest of the unit to escape. Isla, who wanted to warn the group about landmines , leads the soldiers with her father Amal to a former refugee camp that was conquered by the Taliban. Here you can find ammunition and spare parts for your broken radio.

The soldiers try to get back to the mine together with Amal and Isla through an underground tunnel system. They are attacked again by the Taliban, but they are killed by the giant snakes. One of the soldiers also dies, but Stanley manages to kill one of the monsters. In the tunnels, Amal accidentally steps on a mine, the explosion collapses the escape route, and the monsters are lured back in. Isla is sent outside through an air shaft to reach a door that can only be opened from the outside and thus save the rest of the group. Isla manages, and together with Stanley and Jennifer Henle, the last survivors of the unit, she manages to escape back to the former mine. They are pursued by two giant snakes, which they can distract with hand grenades. At the mine, a combat helicopter comes to their aid, kills one of the snakes and picks up the three survivors. The remaining giant snake suddenly attacks the helicopter, whereupon Stanley sacrifices himself, who has taken an explosives belt from the destroyed refugee camp, throws himself into the monster's mouth and kills the monster with it.
