Sandra Keith (born December 11, 1980 in Ottawa ) is a former Canadian biathlete .
Sandra Keith is a student from Canmore with a bachelor's degree in economics . According to her own statements, she was already on cross-country skis at the age of two and has been running biathlon since 1992. She starts for the Rocky Mountain Racers and is trained by the national coach of the Canadian women's team, Geret Coyne , previously by Roger Archambault . Since 1997 she has been part of the Canadian national team. She made her international debut in Jericho in 1998 at the Junior World Championships. The best result here was a 29th place in the individual. A year later she made her debut in the European Cup in Friedenweiler . She was eleventh in the sprint, eighth in the pursuit and second in the season. Further appearances at junior world and European championships followed until 2000, but without achieving outstanding results.
In 2001 Keith made her debut in Biathlon World Cup . In a sprint race in Hochfilzen she came in 84th place. In the years that followed, Keith kept switching between World and European Cups. In 2003 she won the European Cup in Ridnaun as the first Canadian since Myriam Bédard's successes in the 1980s and 1990s, an international race outside of North America. Then she took part in her first biathlon world championships . In 2003 she also took part in the Universiade and achieved Canada's best placing in this competition as tenth. In Hochfilzen she won World Cup points for the first time in 2005 as 26th in an individual. In 2006 she started at the Olympic Games in Turin . The best place was a 42nd place in the individual. In the sprint of Pokljuka in the 2007/2008 World Cup season , she achieved her best World Cup result to date with 11th place and was the fastest of all clean shooters.
Keith won 16 Canadian championship titles and was second and third five times each. At the North American Championships she won four titles as well as two silver and one bronze. She was in a relationship with the Norwegian biathlete Halvard Hanevold until his death in September 2019 . To raise money for her sport, Keith took part in the Bold Beautiful Biathlon Calendar Project.
