Sandro Gotal (born September 9, 1991 in Bregenz ) is an Austrian football player of Croatian origin.

Career

Born in Bregenz as the son of Croatian parents, he began his career at the age of six in the youth of the then Bundesliga club SW Bregenz . As a highly talented player, he came to the regional association training center, or from the U-14 to the federal youth center in Vorarlberg.

After 18 goals in 16 games for the BNZ, Bregenz brought him back at the end of the 2007/08 season and made his debut for a game in the A-team at the age of 16. In doing so, he managed to do a double straight away.

In autumn 2008 he then scored 21 goals in eight games for the Bregenz second team, whereupon he was accepted into the senior team.

After convalescence, he played for six months in Bregenz before he was brought to Vienna by coach Peter Stöger during the winter transition period of the 2009/10 season , where he signed his first professional contract.

At the then strongly relegation-threatened club from the federal capital , he did not come in the second half of the season under Stöger or his successor Frenk Schinkel beyond the status of the supplementary player and only played once for the full 90 minutes of play. After relegation at the end of the season, he then moved within the league to promoted Wolfsberger AC .

After half a year, he established himself in the second half of the 2010/11 season as the second striker alongside Marco Reich in the 4-4-2 system often practiced by coach Nenad Bjelica . In January 2012 it was awarded to the regional league team SK Austria Klagenfurt for half a year .

In the summer of 2012 he switched to the second division promoted SV Horn on loan . After the loan ended, he returned to the WAC for the 2013/14 season. For the 2014/15 season he moved to Croatia to Hajduk Split . For the 2015/16 season he moved to Switzerland for FC St. Gallen . He signed a contract until the summer of 2017. For the second half of 2015/16 Gotal was loaned to the Turkish second division team Malatyaspor . However, he was only used in four league games and was transferred to Poland for the 2016/2017 season , where he signed with Piast Gliwice for one year . Again, he could not prevail and scored one goal in four league games. In January 2017, the contract was terminated by mutual agreement. Then Sandro Gotal signed a contract until the end of the season with the Israeli first division club MS Ashdod .

In August 2017 he returned to Croatia and moved to NK Istra in 1961 . After seven games for Istra, he moved to Belarus for FK Dinamo Brest in January 2018 . After six games for Brest in Wyschejschaja Liha , Gotal moved to Sūduva Marijampolė in Lithuania in August 2018 . With Sūduva he was able to become Lithuanian champion in 2018.

In September 2019 he returned to Austria and moved to Bundesliga club TSV Hartberg , with whom he received a contract that ran until May 2020. After the 2019/20 season, he left Hartberg after nine Bundesliga games.
