Sant'Agostino is a fraction of the Italian commune ( comune ) Terre del Reno in the province of Ferrara in Emilia-Romagna .
geography
The place is located in the Po plain about 30 km southwest of Ferrara at an altitude of 15 m slm Sant'Agostino borders directly to the west on the Cavo Napoleonico , an artificial drainage channel through which the water of the Reno flowing south of Sant'Agostino into the north running Po can be derived.
history
On May 20, 2012, shortly after 4:00 a.m., a severe earthquake with a rating of 5.9 on the Richter scale occurred in the Emilia-Romagna region . The epicenter was in the municipality of Finale Emilia . Around 5000 people became homeless, seven people were killed and at least 50 were injured. The earthquake also caused enormous material damage in Sant'Agostino.
On January 1, 2017, Sant'Agostino and Mirabello merged to form the new municipality of Terre del Reno. The districts of San Carlo and Dosso also belonged to the community. The neighboring municipalities were Bondeno , Cento , Galliera ( BO ), Mirabello, Pieve di Cento (BO) and Poggio Renatico .
