Sant'Antonio Abate in Pegli

The parish church of Sant'Antonio Abate in Pegli (Chiesa di Sant'Antonio Abate) is a church building in the Archdiocese of Genoa .

It was built in 1478 over the Hermitage ( grotto ) of the martyr Beato Martino da Pegli. The soldier Martino died in 1344 by a sword . His relics were kept in the Monastero Benedettino di San Benigno di Capo Faro ( Benedictine monastery near the lighthouse of Genoa ). This was expanded in 1680 to the Convento di Sant'Antonio Abate a Pegli . Some of the frescoes , like numerous majolica, are attributed to Giovanni Agostino Ratti (* 1699 Savona ; † 1775 Genoa ).

In 1950 Sant'Antonio was the place of activity of the Franciscan (OFM) Eduard Lajos Dömöter. On June 1, 1950, he signed an application for the issue of a passport from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for Ricardo Clement . The ICRC represented Leo Biaggi de Blasys from a family of entrepreneurs in Pelgi, Genoa .

On January 1, 1958, Giuseppe Siri dedicated the building to the parish church , which was completely rebuilt in 1962 and is now located at 8 Via Caldesi Giacinto.
