Sarıyahşi is a city and a small district in the north of the Turkish province of Aksaray . The district town accounts for 62.6 percent of the district's population.
geography
The city of Sarıyahşi is located in Central Anatolia between the capital Ankara and Aksaray near the Tuz Gölü salt lake near Şereflikoçhisar . Until June 15, 1989 Sarıyahşi belonged to Ankara Province, since then to Aksaray Province. The distance from Sarıyahşi to Aksaray is approx. 100 km, to Şereflikoçhisar approx. 30 km and to Kırşehir approx. 35 km.
In addition to the district town ( Merkez ), six villages (with an average of 424 inhabitants) belong to the district , of which Boğazköy is the largest with 1001 inhabitants (end of 2018). The total population of all villages is 2,541 (37.36% of the district population).
history
Establishment of the city of Sarıyahşi
According to local tradition, the city was founded about 22 to 24 generations ago by members of the Halaçlılar tribe , a Turkish tribe living in what is now Iran in the 13th century . Since the Halaçlılar were nomads , they migrated to Sarıyahşi via Kırşehir around 1330 and settled there.
Surname
According to the book Şerefli Koçhisar Tarihi (translated: The story of Şereflikoçhisar ), the city of Sarıyahşi takes its name from a Turkish soldier named Yahşi Han who died while walking through Sarıyahşi with a soldier wounded. Until then, Sarıyahşi's name was just Sarı . In the book there is a picture of Yahşi Han and his Türbe (tomb). Translated is Sarı = yellow .
Attractions
In Sarıyahşi there is a water source with warm running water. This water source is called İçmece and is located between Sarıyahşi and Bekdik. There are also numerous caves and hiking trails in Sarıyahşi.
economy
Most of the residents of Sarıyahşi are employed in agriculture.
Schools and education
The first school to be called Alphabet was in 1929. The school's sign was written with the old and new alphabet. The school building was built from air bricks. There are currently two primary schools in Sarıyahşi, a secondary school, a grammar school, a vocational school and a kindergarten.
