history
The village emerged in the 18th century as a Khakass ulus . From the 19th century on, mining was practiced in the area, mainly for gold. Particularly after the discovery of the Saralinskoje gold deposit on the upper reaches of the Sarala, about 40 km southwest, in 1898, the village on the access road played an increasing role. In 1929 it was given the status of an urban-type settlement as the logistic center of the mining area . With the development of the urban-type settlements of Ordzhonikidsewski (since 1993 village as Ordzhonikidsewskoje ), Priiskowy (since 2001 village as Priiskowoje ) and Solotogorski (abandoned around 1960) in the 1940s, Sarala lost its importance and became as early as 1947 converted back into a village. The population fell from almost 15,000 to under 3,000 between 1939 and 1959, and has continued to fall below 1,000 to this day.
